Service Manager Job

Job description

To develop sales of workshop time, products and services. Provide support to other areas of the company including :-

  • Sales
  • Hire
  • Parts
  • Transport
  • Other

Key responsibilities and accountability:-

  • Become a team player within an established after sales department
  • Liaise with customers to accommodate their expectations and develop and promote income increasing custom for WWM Rose
  • Promote and execution and invoicing of workshop jobs to facilitate customer satisfaction and good cash flow.
  • Liaise with suppliers to reduce costs and negotiate best long term outcome for WWM Rose and customers
  • Manage workshop staff and develop skills and expertise as required
  • manage workshop equipment / vehicles
  • Liaise with directors on Health and Safety within the workshop staff environment whether in depot or on site.

Post holder would use this as a guide for the job description, it is intended as a guide and is not complete. The post holder would be expected to become involved in other duties to assist the needs of the business.


  • Previous experience in similar role is desired

Job Title-  Stores Person—W W M Rose & Sons Ltd, West Linton.

We would expect the suitable  candidate to be self motivated

 IT System  

Our computer system that we use is comprehensively integrated with all sides of our business and it is important that it is used as extensively as possible including up dating machine/ maintenance/ customer records in accordance with current company/national policy.


 Customer service/experience  is extremely important for the development of our company.

Stores/ Shop

Liaise with customers /Workshop Foreman/sales re customers requirements

Stock control

Purchase orders handling on Protean system

Invoicing /payments

General up-keep/control/organizing  of stores/ shop area


Liaise with customers /Workshop Foreman re customers requirements

 Identify parts and labour required producing Protean jobs as enquiries arrive.

Processing jobs when active up to completion and accurately invoicing completed work.

Timely warranty work documentation

General workshop/parts administration in conjunction with workshop/stores and financial departments etc

Some overtime required during busy times etc


Using our IT system to handle hire enquiries/contracts and invoicing


Keeping our computer system up to date with all items to produce and send invoicing as quickly as possible. Resolving issues as required.

Our IT system  can produce reports etc so we can monitor invoicing, progress etc


Explore ways to improve/drive increased sustainable profitability and turnover through :-

  • Efficiencies
  • CRM
  • Marketing the after sales etc within our company
  • etc




It is our intention to further, and drive improvements in the depot at West Linton and within the company.

Based at Wm WM Rose & Sons Ltd Depot, Lamancha, WEST LINTON, Peeblesshire, EH46 7BD


Based at Wm W M Rose & Sons Ltd Depot, Dunbar Road, EAST LINTON, East Lothian, EH40 3DE

Job Role:

Due to an increase in productivity we are looking for an agricultural service mechanic who can maintain, diagnose and repair new and used machinery from industry leading products such as CASE IH, Merlo and Polaris in the workshop and onsite

The ideal applicant will have exceptional customer service skills and be willing to spend the necessary time explaining issues to customers and helping them understand their service needs.

Our company offers a competitive salary and full benefits.

Manufacturer product training will be provided to ensure you are up to the latest product skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • General machine preparation for new and used machines and attachments
  • Diagnose and repair faults on machines
  • Work well with colleagues as part of the Service and Workshop team
  • Good customer service when attending mobile jobs on customer’s sites.
